Celebrity parties are often opulent, but these stars have taken it to the next level and beyond with very cool (and very expensive) themed parties.
Sydney Sweeney is catching heat for the Western-themed "hoedown" birthday party she threw for her mother's 60th. The 'Euphoria' actress shared photos of the event on August 27, and captioned her post, "No better way to celebrate my momma than a surprise hoedown," but fans found that she'd included a picture of a male guest wearing what they identified as a Blue Lives Matter design and quickly took issue with it. One of Sweeney's videos in the post also showed partygoers wearing red baseball caps similar to Donald Trump's MAGA hats. Her brother Trent clarified in a separate Instagram post that the hats actually read, "Make Sixty Great Again."
Social media users began expressing criticism or support for whatever political affiliation they assumed Sweeney was expressing, with some arguing she and her family were parodying conservatives, and others arguing that Sweeney is conservative herself. Finally she responded to the controversy and tweeted, "You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions."
