'SNL' stars Colin Jost and Pete Davidson poke fun at their purchase of Staten Island ferry boat

Pete Davidson and Colin Jost recently teamed up to buy a decommissioned Staten Island ferry boat, which Davidson jokingly called "the windowless van of the sea" on the 'Saturday Night Live' Weekend Update with his co-star. Both comedians were born in the New York City borough of Staten Island, and they teamed up to make the purchase alongside Paul Italia, which costed a total of US$280,100 at auction.
Italia told the The New York Post that he, Davidson, and Jost have "grand plans" for the boat. "The idea is to turn the space into a live entertainment event space, with comedy, music, art, et cetera," he explained. "We're in the early stages, but everybody involved had the same ambition—not to see this thing go to the scrapyard."
Jost and Davidson also spoke on 'SNL' about how they're having trouble finding a place to dock the boat, though they have the support of the NYC Mayor, who tweeted "I love this idea. What a great way to give an NYC icon a second life. Let us know how we can help and we'll be there for the maiden voyage." Davidson joked, "even the Mayor tweeted about it, which is how I found out we have a new Mayor? What happened to Bloomberg?" he asked while cracking up.
