- On January 15, 2024, Sir Elton John became the 19th person to join the exclusive club. John had already earned five Grammys and countless more nominations for his music, two Oscars for Best Original Song, and a Tony for Best Original Score for his work on 'Aida' in 2000. At the 2024 Emmy Awards, he finally received the missing piece. John was awarded for best live variety special for his live show, 'Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium.' The performance was filmed as part of his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour' and turned into a special on Disney+. John couldn't attend the Emmys as he was recovering from a knee operation, but he shared his joy and gratitude through a written statement. “I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight,” he wrote. “The journey to this moment has been filled with passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of my fans all around the world.”
