Chan had a scandalous affair with former Miss China, Elaine Ng, whilst married to Joan Lin. Elaine Ng gave birth to his lovechild in 1999, a daughter called Etta Ng Chok Lam. In 2018, she told the press that she and her girlfriend were homeless due to "homophobic parents." The father and daughter have reportedly never had a relationship, and Etta Ng Chok Lam has previously spoken about Chan stating "I would not say that he is my dad." She is reportedly living in Toronto with her girlfriend and still struggling financially.

In June 2022, Russell Simmons' daughter Ming wished her mother, his ex Kimora Lee Simmons, a happy Father's Day, which set off the Def Jam Recordings executive and started a very public family feud. Russell shared on his own Instagram Story an image that read, "Stop telling fathers they should have fought harder to see their children & start asking mothers why he had to fight at all.”

Kimora Lee, whom Simmons began dating when she was a high school sophomore, then got involved and shared some serious allegations against the father of her kids Ming and Aoki. "I'm so sorry to have to do this," she wrote. "But this man has been threatening my kids' lives. I'm hearing so much more now. We won't be bullied threatened or afraid." She continued, "This narrative of attacking the only caregiver, the only parent in the home with the kids, the mom, AND the kids for one's own shortcomings and embarrassments is dead. Dead. Dead."

Kimora Lee, Ming, Aoki, and Russell Simmons -

Kimora got on Instagram Live to address her ex and talk further about how he would gaslight women and the media, and then Aoki began sharing more about her now estranged relationship with her father who she says she had to stop speaking to because he was giving her panic attacks. Aoki shared screenshots of conversations she's had with her dad, explaining that she’s “had enough” because he’s “been awful to [her] for years and that’s just the truth.” In the messages, Russell accused Kimora of stealing his money and the love of his kids, to which Aoki replied, “I’m out here praying for you and hoping everything goes well. And you call my mother a piece of [ ] … Don’t ever say that again. She DID NOT STEAL IT. YOU LOST IT.” Aoki also claimed that he "hasn’t given [her] a dime in years” and even threatened to ruin her modeling career, and she “stopped talking” to him because he was “giving [her] panic attacks to the point [she] was placed on emergency medication every time [they] spoke.” She touched on the possibility that he has a mental illness because he used to be "the best dad ever" and now "He really acts like he hates and does not know his children frequently."

Billie Lourd and her mother Carrie Fisher's siblings -

The legendary Carrie Fisher was added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame posthumously on May 4, 2023. Her daughter, the actress Billie Lourd, received the honor on behalf of her mother. However, Fisher's siblings—Todd, Joely, and Tricia Leigh Fisher—were notably absent from the guest list. Todd Fisher spoke to the press expressing shock and dismay at having been excluded from the special event by Lourd. Lourd responded with a public statement explaining that she had indeed chosen not to invite them, and that they knew why. "Days after my mom died, her brother and her sister chose to process their grief publicly and capitalize on my mother’s death, by doing multiple interviews and selling individual books for a lot of money, with my mom and my grandmother’s deaths as the subject,” Lourd wrote. “I found out they had done this through the press. They never consulted me or considered how this would affect our relationship ... their actions were very hurtful to me at the most difficult time in my life. I chose to and still choose to deal with her loss in a much different way.” Lourd went on to say that she and her aunts and uncle are not involved in a feud, but simply have "no relationship."

Prince Harry and King Charles -

Ahead of the release of his memoir 'Spare' at the beginning of 2023, Prince Harry candidly discussed his strained relationship with his family in an interview with ITV. "It never needed to be this way. I want a family, not an institution," The Duke of Sussex told journalist Tom Bradby. "They feel as though it is better to keep us somehow as the villains," Harry added. "They've shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile." The preview concludes with the royal saying, "I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back."

Prince Harry and King Charles -

Though a lot was gained in leaving the royal family, Prince Harry felt he “lost” his father, now King Charles. Previously, in his revealing interview with Oprah, Prince Harry said that after he decided to leave the royal family, his father stopped taking his calls. Harry's visit to the UK for Prince Philip's funeral didn't patch things up either, as sources told PageSix that Harry returned to the US without having a "one-on-one" chat with his father, reportedly because Charles didn't trust him enough to speak to him alone. It's said both King Charles and Prince William would only agree to talk to Harry if there were witnesses, as they feared a twisted report might leak from Harry’s camp.

Elon Musk -

Elon Musk might be one of the most powerful men in the world, but he still can't figure out how to fix his relationship with his own child. Six months after his teenage transgender daughter Vivian publicly cut ties with him, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO told Financial Times that he believes the reason is due to neo-Marxism invading schools. "It's full-on communism and a general sentiment that if you're rich, you're evil," Musk theorized.

He continued, "It [the relationship] may change, but I have very good relationships with all the others [children]," adding, "Can't win them all."

Elon Musk -

Elon Musk's daughter filed a request to change her name in accordance with her gender identity, but also made a point to add in the court documents that the name change is additionally because: "I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form."

Her petition for both a name change and a new birth certificate with her female gender and new name was filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica in April, 2022, Reuters reported. Vivian Jenna Wilson didn't wait long after turning 18, the age of consent in California, to file the court documents. Her mother is Justine Wilson, who divorced Musk in 2008.

And Musk has some issues with his own father as well. In an interview August 1, 2022, with Australia's 'The Kyle and Jackie O Show,' his estranged father Errol Musk was asked if he was proud of his billionaire son's accomplishments, to which he replied, “No. You know, we are a family that have been doing a lot of things for a long time, it’s not as if we suddenly started doing something.”

Not only did he belittle his son's success, but he also said he favored Elon's brother, who is a restaurateur and chef. Compared with Elon, Errol said that his other son, Kimbal Musk, is the “pride and joy” of his life. And he slipped in one more low blow after that about Elon's body after seeing photos of him on vacation in Greece. "Elon is very strongly built but he's been eating badly," Errol said, urging his son to take a weight loss product called garcinia cambogia.

Amanda Bynes -

The child star had a tough relationship with her family, particularly her father, for many years. When she was struggling with mental illness and substance abuse between 2012 and 2014, Bynes became estranged from her father and refused to see him. Bynes was well-known for her erratic behavior on Twitter at the time. She called out her father for causing the issues she was struggling with, and during one dark period, even accused him of sexually abusing her as a child. These tweets were later deleted and the claims denied, but there's no doubt their relationship was strained. 

As of 2018, Bynes was four years sober with the help and support of parents. After being kept apart for much of the pandemic, sources close to Bynes say that she was enjoying the opportunity to reconnect with them and that their bond is stronger than ever. This particular story of familial turmoil seems to have a happy ending.

Meghan Markle is one of many high-profile celebrities to become estranged from her family, but her estranged family is certainly one of the loudest we've ever seen. Her older brother, Thomas Markle Jr., appeared on the reality show 'Big Brother VIP' in 2021. "I told Prince Harry, ‘I think she’s going to ruin your life,'” Thomas says over a video of him stepping out of a limo. "She’s very shallow."

Dr. Dre -

Dr. Dre 's eldest daughter LaTanya Young from his previous relationship with Lisa Jackson claimed at the age of 38 that she had not seen her father in 18 years. Young told the Daily Mail that she has been struggling financially for years while raising her four children, whom her father has never met. At the time of reporting, she was living out of a rental car because she couldn't afford an apartment in California. She confirmed that her children are staying with friends, but the family is essentially homeless. Young says she is picking up odd jobs like doing deliveries for Door Dash and Uber Eats, but desperately needs help as she won't be able to afford the rental car much longer. Young told reporters that she doesn't have her father's phone number and has to contact him through his team. His lawyer allegedly told her that he won't be giving her any money because she spoke to the press in the past.

After years of public disputes, Adele's estranged father Mark Evans died of bowel cancer at age 57, without a chance of reconciliation. The singer has spoken openly about how her father walked out on her and her mother, and as her fame grew Evans began to speak to the press and make false claims about their relationship. According to The Sun, a source said: “He always hoped things would work out with Adele, but it remained acrimonious to the end. He made a few attempts to make things right, but clearly, it had been too long.”

Firstly, if you forgot the famed Osbourne family has a second daughter, you're not alone. Aimée refused to participate in the famed reality TV show 'The Osbournes.' But even almost two decades later, Kelly revealed that she and her sister have kept their distance off-screen too. "We don't talk," she confirmed on Dax Shepard's 'Armchair Expert' podcast. "We're just really different. She doesn't understand me. I don't understand her." Apparently Aimée really values her privacy and simply wants to make music with her band ARO without all the celebrity,  E! News reports.

Mariah Carey wrote about her estranged sister Alison Carey in her 2020 memoir 'The Meaning of Mariah,' including a story about Alison drugging and burning her, and trying to sell her out to a pimp. Alison is suing the singer for US$1.25 million, claiming she intentionally caused her "emotional distress" and "public humiliation" with the "cruel and outrageous" allegations. Though Mariah wrote of the trauma she still struggles with, her sister contends that she has suffered "horrific abuse" and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression as a result of the memoir.
