CELEBRITY Cinema

They’re the most prestigious awards in the film industry: the Oscars—the golden statuettes that honor the best achievements in cinema each year. But while some of the most celebrated actors proudly boast of winning this coveted award, many have seen their careers fade after that defining moment. Some even refer to this as the "Oscar curse."

Adrien Brody made history in 2003 when he became the youngest actor ever, at 29, to win the Best Actor Oscar, for 'The Pianist' (2002). However, while the award cemented his name in Hollywood, his career didn’t skyrocket as expected, leading some to question whether he, too, was affected by the curse. Now, Brody has made a bold return with 'The Brutalist'(2024), a 3.5-hour historical epic. Playing László Tóth, a Hungarian-born Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor, Brody delivers what critics are calling a career-redefining performance.

But will Brody really claim his second Academy Award and silence the Oscar curse once and for all? Click through the following gallery to discover the actors who have fallen victim to this so-called 'curse.'
