As the last embers of summer are extinguished and the fall beckons, many of us in the Northern Hemisphere are gearing up to a biannual event that has become more contentious with each passing year: the changing of the clocks. Daylight saving time (DST) will see clocks go forward by an hour, meaning we'll lose sleep going into Monday morning. Well, a good proportion of the scientific community is calling for an end to DST on the grounds that it's bad for our health and the economy. But what exactly are they talking about?
