President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump cruised to victory in their respective parties' primaries. But after a disastrous debate performance, Biden ended his campaign, and Vice President Kamala Harris sought the nomination in his place. In early August, Democratic delegates officially chose her as the party's nominee.

Although Harris and Trump are the two major party candidates in the 2024 presidential election, there are also other people running. None are on a realistic path to the White House, but the most well-known threaten to take votes from the Democratic and Republican candidates. For example, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was one of them, running as an independent. However, he suspended his campaign, supporting Trump instead.
