The Women's Health Index explored five critical elements of women's health: preventive care, emotional health, opinions of health and safety, basic needs, and individual health.
Hologic's survey found that women's health is in a state of emergency, stating that "women are no better off today than they were in the first year of the survey, conducted in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic."
Concerningly, the survey also found that one in four women has health problems that keep them from doing normal activities, and more women report feeling sad, angry, and worried now than they did three years ago.
According to the survey, nearly half of women in the EU had their blood pressure tested in the last 12 months, while one in five women was tested for cancer. Additionally, 24% of women reported being screened for diabetes during the same period.
Austria was the top country in Europe for women's health, ranking third on the global index.
Germany scored 67, ranking second in Europe and fourth on the global index.
Scoring 66 out of 100, Switzerland ranked third in Europe and fifth on the global index.
Denmark scored 64 out of 100, placing it fourth in Europe and eighth globally.
Poland scored 64 and ranked ninth globally and fifth in Europe.
Czechia scored 64, ranking tenth globally and sixth in Europe.
Finland also ranked tenth globally, with a score of 64.
The Netherlands ranked twelfth globally and eighth in Europe, scoring 64.
Based on the five critical elements, Belgium scored 64 out of 100, placing the country fourteenth on the global index and ninth in Europe.
Norway scored 64 out of 100, placing it sixteenth on the global index and tenth in Europe.
Scoring 63, Latvia ranks twentieth globally and eleventh in Europe.
Sweden scored 63, placing the country twenty-first on the global index and twelfth in Europe.
A score of 62 placed Luxembourg thirteenth in Europe and twenty-second on the global index for women's health.
Estonia scored 62, ranking fourteenth in Europe and twenty-third overall on the global index for women's health.
Scoring 62 out of 100, Ireland placed fifteenth for women's health in Europe and twenty-fourth on the global index.
Iceland scored 62, ranking sixteenth in Europe and twenty-sixth on the global index for women's health.
Greece scored 62 out of 100, placing the country seventeenth in Europe and twenty-eighth on the global index.
Europe on average scored 61, putting it in line with the twenty-ninth country (Mauritius) on the global index for women's health.
Lithuania scored 60, ranking nineteenth in Europe and thirty-third on the global index.
The UK ranked thirty-seventh out of the 143 countries included in the index. According to the results, 32% of British women reported feeling sad, compared with 26% of women in the EU.
France scored 60 out of 100, placing the country fortieth out of 143 countries globally and twenty-fourth in Europe for women's health.
Scoring 58, Spain ranked fiftieth on the global index and thirtieth in Europe for women's health.
Italy scored 56 out of 100 and ranked fifty-seventh out of 143 countries on the global index and thirty-third in Europe.
Scoring 51 out of 100, Georgia ranked seventy-seventh on the global index and fortieth in Europe.
Turkey ranked the lowest out of all the European countries on the global index for women's health. The country scored 46 out of 100 and ranked one hundred and third globally.
There is a growing awareness of the need for more research and resources dedicated to women's health issues. Despite this, Deloitte reported that femtech (technology addressing women's health) attracted just 2% of the venture funding allocated for the entire healthcare industry.

In 2024, Hologic, a medical technology company, published the Women's Health Index—a survey conducted with more than 147,000 participants from 143 countries and territories. Taiwan secured the top spot with an index score of 72 (out of 100). The US dropped seven places in the ranking to 30th place, with a score of 61.
