From the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war to the current Israel-Hamas conflict, wars have been a part of human history for millennia. At one point or another, practically every country in the world has been involved in a war, but there's no denying that some nations are far more stricken by conflict than others. And while many countries fought for their independence for example, there have been numerous instances where wars were started as part of a grab for power.

Since Syria first gained its independence in 1920, the country has been involved in a series of wars. Throughout this time, Syria has evolved from the Arab Kingdom of Syria to the Syrian Republic, which is has been at war since 2011 in another attempt at regime change.

Since its declaration of independence in May 1948, Israel has fought various wars with neighboring Arab countries. The conflict with Palestine is one of the longest-running in the world.

Officially known as the People's Republic of China, China has a history of civil conflict, which only ended when the Communist Party won the Chinese Civil War in 1949.

After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Turkey made a name for itself in the wake of its successful war of independence in 1919. Turkey has only ever been defeated once, with the rest of its conflicts resulting in either a victory, stalemate, or ceasefire.

While ruled by the Ottoman Empire, Iraq was always involved in some type of war. Once it was free from Ottoman influence, it fell under British rule and became Mandatory Iraq. It wasn't until 1932 that Iraq gained its independence, but it didn't take long for the country to become involved in the first of many new wars.

Dating back to colonial conflicts during the 11th century, Canada has had a long history of warfare until it became the country it is today. Since the Canadian Confederation in 1867, the nation has mostly participated in conflicts and military interventions abroad.

Bulgaria has one of the most extensive battlefronts in history, with wars dating back to 680, when the country was still the First Bulgarian Empire. Since then, Bulgaria has been under a series of administrations, including the Kingdom of Bulgaria and Principality of Bulgaria. It wasn't until 1990 that the country became the Republic of Bulgaria we know of today.

After Japan's annexation of Korea and the fall of the Korean Empire in 1910, the country was involved in nearly 20 armed conflicts. It wasn't until 1948 that North Korea gained its independence, and since then it has been involved in several wars, including the Korean War.

Mexico is embroiled in one of its most disastrous wars to date, the Mexican Drug War. Apart from that, Mexico hasn't had a serious involvement with war ever since the Mexican War of Independence in 1810. Their longest war on record is the Apache–Mexico Wars, from the 1600s to 1915.

Prior to becoming the Italian Republic, the Kingdom of Italy was party to nearly 30 armed conflicts. After the Italian Civil War, which brought the Republic to life after World War II, the country has participated in numerous military operations.

It wasn't until 1953 that Egypt became an independent republic, but its involvement with war started long before that. In fact, Egypt has gone through a series of administrations throughout the centuries, and each has been equally involved in foreign and domestic wars, including the Six-Day War and the Libyan-Egyptian War.

From the Viking raids of the 9th century to the Seven Years' War, Germany has had a long history with wars, including its catastrophic actions during World War II. After Nazi Germany was defeated, the Federal Republic of Germany was established.

Afghanistan didn't become an independent country until 1919. However, it had already been involved in a plethora of wars, dating back to 1539. Even after its independence wars continued, with the most recent being the War in Afghanistan, which lasted from 2001 to 2021.

Known for their neutrality, Sweden has actually had a long-standing history with conflict. Most notable of these is the Dano-Swedish Wars, which refer to the many wars between Denmark and Sweden in the period from 1563 to 1720. Not since a short war against Norway in 1814 has Sweden been involved in any war, apart from military operations.

Aside from the many wars with Sweden, Denmark has also been involved in countless conflicts, including with Nazi Germany, who occupied the country in 1940. As a member of the United Nations and NATO, Denmark has participated in military operations since 1992, in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya.

One of the world's most war-stricken countries, Nigeria is known for having a history of civil conflict. During the Nigerian Civil War, from 1967 to 1970, more than 15 battles took place.

Dating back to the 9th century, there has been countless wars and conflicts in Russia and during the Soviet Union era. Some famous wars include the Russian Civil War, the Winter War against Finland, World War II, and the current Russo-Ukrainian war.

Throughout its history Brazil has been under the rule of many different administrations, with each having some involvement with war. The first record of conflict was in 1534, when Colonial Brazil took part in the Iguape War. More than 40 other battles took place under this administration.

Even before Argentina's independence in 1861, the country had been involved in a long history of war. The first record of war was in 1536 when the Spanish Empire first attempted to colonize Buenos Aires. But even after its independence, Argentina took part in almost 50 major conflicts, including the Falklands War against the UK.

Beginning with the American Revolutionary War, the US has been involved in 107 wars since it gained its independence. It's also one of the countries with the most involvement in 21st-century conflicts.

Although Iran's first recorded war in the 7th century BCE ended in defeat, it was followed by a series of victories that resulted in even more conflict over time. The country didn't become the Islamic Republic of Iran until 1979, and since then has been part of several ongoing conflicts.

Since the Philippine Revolution of 1896, the Philippines is one of the countries with the most wars under its belt. The country's next big conflict, the Philippine–American War, followed soon after in 1899, with more than 35 battles. The country was also involved in World War II and the Cold War.

Dating back to the Middle Ages, Poland has been in countless conflicts and is easily one of the most war-stricken of any nation. In fact, Poland had been involved in more conflicts than any other country before its independence in 1919. Since then, Poland has been a part of various different battles and various large wars, most notably World War II.

Once a small territory, Austria quickly grew in size thanks to its continuous involvement in battles, crusades, and other war-like activities. By 1453, the country had expanded to become the Archduchy of Austria, and after almost 70 years evolved into the Austrian Empire. By the time of World War II, there was very little of Austria left to defend, and so once it gained the title as the independent Republic of Austria, the country created a law of neutrality.

India is one of the most war-stricken countries in the world. The Battle of the Ten Kings in the 14th century BCE was the first war on record in India. Having fallen under various administrations, India finally gained its independence and later became a republic, in 1950. Since then the nation has been a part of nearly 30 battles and major wars.

Throughout its history the United Kingdom and its predecessor states has been involved in a great number of conflicts, many of which were carried out by the Royal Navy. Their forces have invaded, had some control over, or fought conflicts in 171 of the world's 193 countries, including in current UN member states.

Hungary originally evolved out of a tribal state before becoming a duchy in the Middle Ages, and was undefeated during its first hundred years in battles. However, it wasn't until the 20th century that Hungary officially gained its independence and even then, faced a series of wars and conflicts.

Throughout its history, France has undergone many phases of power and with that, fought in a countless number of wars. Since 1495, France has participated in 50 of the 125 major European wars.

Spain is one of the countries with the longest history of war on record. Just during the medieval era, they were in over 100 battles, and 60 conflicts during the Habsburg era. Then was the devastating Spanish Civil War, from 1936 to 1939.
