Lisa Marie Presley, aged 54, passed away on January 12, 2023. Her untimely death came as a shock to the world, with initial reports suggesting that cardiac arrest had occurred at her residence. This led to speculation about a potential connection to her father, Elvis Presley, who suffered from heart disease. However, the true cause of her death remained undisclosed until seven months later. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined that Presley had died as a result of small bowel obstruction. Complications arising from a previous weight loss surgery had led to scar tissue forming in her small intestine, causing a blockage which, if left untreated, may lead to tissue death or perforation, ultimately resulting in death.

In 2024, scientists studying locks of the composer’s hair discovered that it contained high levels of lead. “These levels are considered as lead poisoning,” said lead study author Nader Rifai, professor of pathology at Harvard Medical School and director of clinical chemistry at Boston Children’s Hospital. “If you walk into any emergency room in the United States with these levels, you will be admitted immediately and you will undergo chelation therapy.” Lead poisoning can cause the majority of health problems he experienced in his life, and may have occurred early enough to cause his deafness.

Death is always a sorrowful event, especially when it involves a well-known individual. Although numerous celebrities have met tragic fates, some findings after post-mortem examinations have revealed the extraordinary nature of these incidents. Frequently, famous personalities pass away due to drug overdoses or similar incidents, but occasionally a deeper investigation unveils hidden truths.

The Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor passed away suddenly at the age of 56 on July 26, 2023. A year after her death, the cause has finally been revealed. On July 27, 2024, the Irish Independent reported that she died of natural causes, from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. The autopsy report specified that it was an “exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade lower respiratory tract infection." COPD is a common lung disease that causes the airways to narrow and can be deadly in extreme cases. According to the World Health Organization, it's the third leading cause of death in the world and is often associated with tobacco smoking.
