A Caribbean island that still forms part of the British Commonwealth, Saint Lucia's climate could hardly be more different to that of Britain. Temperatures in this tropical paradise are hot year round, with winter months being marginally cooler, but drier, than the summer. Temperatures between 26°C (79°F) and 29°C (84.2°F) are not uncommon in the coldest months of December and January.
Don't expect a white Christmas in southwestern California. Temperatures are warm pretty much all year round in San Diego. On average, temperatures are hotter than 16°C (60°F) some 344 days of the year. Autumn is usually the hottest time of year, with the mercury sometimes soaring as high as 42°C (107°F) in October.
Although things can get rainy in this part of southeast Asia, they don't get cold. The year-round average is 26.6°C (79.9°F), and even in the relatively cool month of January things hover around 25.5°C (77.9°F).
A stunning subtropical island nation in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius has an enviably warm climate year round. A good bet for people who don't like temperature extremes, weather rarely gets hotter than 31°C (62.6°F) or drops below 17°C (62.6°F).
A Caribbean country on the northeastern coast of Central America, Belize basks in warm temperatures throughout the year. Although dramatic downpours can happen at any time, winters are somewhat drier, with temperatures typically around 23°C (73 °F) in the north, and 24°C (75°F) in the south.
The subtropical city of Durban, on the east coast of South Africa, never gets truly cold, even in the depths of what passes for winter. Although things occasionally drop as low as 15°C (59°F), average maximum winter temperatures hover around 23°C (73.4°F).

In Brazil's scorching northeast, temperatures are warm year round. At Bahian beach destinations like Trancosa, visitors can expect beach days at the height of winter, when temperatures might reach 27°C (81°F), and waters are still warm.
Things don't get too much cooler farther south in Rio de Janeiro. Although locals will complain of cold in the winter (June to August), warm and sunny days are still common, and it's rarely cooler than 21°C (70°F).

Arid Arizona is a good bet for anybody who dislikes rain as much as cold. While winters can get chilly in some parts, Arizona is scorching in summer and pleasantly warm in winter, with highs around 20°C (68°F) in December.
Coastal Havana ranges from oppressively hot at the peak of summer to moderately hot in winter. In January, temperatures average between 18.6°C (65.5°F) and 25.8°C (78.4°F).
The year-round sticky heat can make city life uncomfortable, but the Caribbean coastline of Colombia is dotted with warm water beach destinations like Isla Barú, around one hour from Cartagena.
Verdant Fiji is a nature lover's dream destination, and doesn't disappoint on the temperature front. An archipelago country in the South Pacific Ocean, it's pleasant year round, with temperatures commonly reaching 30°C (86°F) in any given month.
A tropical archipelago off the coast of Queensland, the Whitsunday Islands are blessed with warmth all year. Winters don't get colder than 22°C (71.6°F), and waters remain invitingly warm.
Another beautiful archipelago with an enviable climate, the Seychelles islands sit pretty in the Indian Ocean, with a warm climate that varies little over the year. The coolest month, July, averages around 27°C (81°F).
Although temperature extremes can vary according to region and altitude, Vietnam is not a cold country. Even in winter, the mean temperature doesn't get much lower than 20°C (68 °F).
A popular destination for wildlife safaris, Namibia has a subtropical desert climate that's warm year round. On Africa's southwest coast, it can get cold at night, but things rarely get chillier than 22°C (72°F) by day.

An American island territory in Micronesia, beautiful Guam is famous for its tropical beaches and glorious weather. Temperatures vary very little by month, or even by time of day. Expect highs of up to 32°C (90°F) by day and 25°C by night in any given month.
Known as the "Island of Eternal Spring," the Portuguese island of Madeira sits in the North Atlantic, and has a temperate climate all year round. It's mountainous, so expect things to get cooler the higher you climb, but at lower levels it's swimming weather all year long. Expect winter averages of 20°C (68°F).
Thailand's tropical climate varies by season and region (and monsoon rains are not to be taken lightly), but it never really gets cold. Even in winter, average temperatures are over 30°C (86°F).
Sitting right on the equator, it's no surprise that Ecuador's temperatures vary little year round. Although mountainous regions can get chilly, elsewhere you can expect temperatures of up to 33°C (91 °F) year round.
A renowned beach destination for partiers and backpackers, Goa can see torrential monsoons, but winters are drier and sunny. Even in the coldest months, things rarely drop below 25°C (77°F).
With a tropical climate, Sri Lanka has a marked difference between wet and dry seasons, but temperatures never get cold at lower elevations. In coastal regions, average yearly temperatures sit around 28°C (82°F).
Its proximity to the equator means that Costa Rica has little temperature difference between summer and winter. January tends to be the coldest month, but temperatures still reach 25.6°C (78.1°F).
