Many artists had their careers go downhill after winning this Grammy. Examples include Milli Vanilli, Men at Work, A Taste of Honey, Jody Watley, and the Starland Vocal Band.

▲

Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress wrote the infamous song 'Gloomy Sunday,' which has been linked to a number of people who have taken their lives, leading it to be banned in Hungary.

▲

Sean Combs's Bad Boy Records was pretty successful in the '90s. But things started to go downhill after The Notorious B.I.G. passed. And it gets weirder: many of the label's artists later became religious leaders, namely Craig Mack, Mase, Shyne, and Loon.

The 'SNL' stage's sound is famously bad, and many musicians have suffered the consequences. Some believe it started when the late Sinead O'Connor ripped up a photo of the Pope on live TV.

▲

This instrument was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1761. Its sound was rumored to make musicians and listeners go mad!

▲

Jan & Dean's 1964 song 'Dead Man's Curve' almost predicted Jan's future, as two years later he crashed his car in that same curve, somewhere in LA.

This karaoke favorite is believed to be cursed in the Philippines. This is because many people have died after singing the song!

▲

The hip-hop group apparently used a Ouija board, and further in their career there are numerous references to the devil in their music as well as the use of occult symbols.

▲

But it gets weirder, as many of the rappers who collaborated with the group died not long after, including Easy-E, 2Pac, and The Notorious B.I.G.

▲

Tartini woke up and wrote Violin Sonata in G minor. The song, better known as the Devil's Trill Sonata, is believed to be cursed.

▲

Russian composer Alexander Scriabin never played his Piano Sonata No. 6 in public because he believed it was "nightmarish, murky, unclean and mischievous."

▲

Austrian composer Gustave Mahler was close to breaking the curse when he wrote a Tenth Symphony... except he died before he finished it!

▲

The song was covered by Billie Holiday and later banned in the US. 'Gloomy Sunday' was also banned by the BBC in the UK until 2002.

▲

The band has been associated with the occult, so it's only natural that rumors of a pact with the devil spread. Though reportedly only three members (Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Bonham) made the Faustian deal.

▲

All three bandmates suffered tragic consequences, with Plant suffering a horrible car crash and later losing his son, to Bonham choking to death, and Plant nearly succumbing to his excesses. Bassist John Paul Jones seems to have made the right decision by staying out of it.

▲

Many composers who have written a Ninth Symphony died not long after. German composer Ludwig van Beethoven is one of the curse's famous victims.

▲

Things never really worked out since then. Singer Ronnie Smith (not pictured), who was hired to replace Holly on the Winter Dance Party Tour, suffered major mental health issues, ending his life a few years later.

▲

The number 9 seems to be omnipresent throughout Lennon's life. He was born on October, 9 1940, the Beatles were discovered on November 9, 1961, and they played 'The Ed Sullivan Show' on February 9, 1964. Not to mention that he met Yoko Ono on November 9, 1966.

▲

February 3, 1959 is known as "the day the music died." On this day, musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and "The Big Bopper" J. P. Richardson were killed in a plane crash.

▲

At one point a series of unfortunate events started to affect Morton's life, including developing asthma and being stabbed. He reportedly sought out the help of a voodoo woman, who helped him lift the curse.

▲

The famous New Orleans jazz pianist didn't sell his soul to the devil, but apparently his godmother did!

▲

Notable members of the 27 Club include Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Amy Winehouse, to name a few.

▲

Possibly one of the most famous curses in music biz. For some strange and mysterious reason, many famous artists have died at the age of 27.

▲

Legend has it that some of the members of the 27 Club were found with a white lighter on them when they passed. Though this is highly unlikely, as white disposable lighters weren't available when Hendrix, Joplin, and Morrison died.

▲

Many artists who have covered the song suffered tragic moments in their lives, including death. These include Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, and Eric Clapton.

▲

Delta blues legend Robert Johnson is said to have made a pact with the devil at a crossroads, where he exchanged his soul for success. To this day, Johnson's song 'Crossroads' is believed to be cursed.

▲

But unfortunately the number is not just linked to positive events in John Lennon's life. The Beatles broke up after nine years, and although Lennon died on December 8, 1980, it was 4 am in the UK, so it was December 9 already in his hometown of Liverpool.

▲

Guitarist Bob Weston (left) died from an aneurysm in 2012, and later that year guitarist Bob Welch (right) ended his life. So, who wants to audition to be the band's next guitarist?

▲

Founding guitarist Peter Green (left) left the band due to mental health issues. Then, slide guitarist Jerry Spencer left shortly after. They were followed by Danny Kirwan (right), who also suffered from mental illness.

▲

It is said that the devil came to composer Giuseppe Tartini in a dream and played him a song on the violin.

Tales of artists making pacts with the devil are fairly common in music history. After all, who needs a soul when you can have success, right? Of course, these artists then suffer the consequences of striking a deal with Lucifer. But there's more to music curses than devilish bargains. Some bands and musicians just seem to be cursed for no apparent reason, while others have written songs that you're better off not listening to (and we don't mean as a matter of taste...).
