We're not quite sure what the 'Gossip Girl' star found in her Google search, but it must have been pretty traumatic, because according to Lively, it "just ended in full depression."
"So I think it's a good rule of thumb not to Google yourself because the Internet is not nice," the actress added.
The singer was feeling insecure after posting two (not particularly flattering) pictures of her on Instagram. So she took to Google to boost her self-esteem.
She Googled "Katy Perry hot" and that's all she needed to feel confident. "Was feeling insecure about my last two posts so," was the caption of her Instagram post featuring a sexy picture.
The actress doesn't always like what she finds when she Googles herself, but "some of it is really funny," she confessed.
The actress is very aware of how people can judge her. “I’m so scared to say anything now. I can see every negative way that people can take it, and I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining. It probably comes from Googling myself. If it were up to me, I would not talk. I would just act," said Lawrence.
The actress can't really resist the urge to Google herself (or other people, for that matter). "You try being 22, having a period and staying away from Google. I once Googled ‘Jennifer Lawrence Ugly.’ Do I sound b–––hy?"
The actress admitted to giving in to the temptation in "very, very dark moments."
It can indeed be a very bad experience, as explained by Witherspoon: “You’re fat, you’re ugly, you’re tired, you’re worthless, you don’t have a career anymore, you’re a bad actor. It’s just an affirmation of every horrible feeling you have about yourself.”
The actress was really into Googling herself back in 2009. "The commenters are usually worse than the bloggers. I know what people say about me," she said.
“I do like to look at what I wear, though," she confessed. "It’s not like I put on a[...] dress and don’t care about it after,” Stewart admitted.
The actress seems to have not liked what she found in past Google searches about her. “I had gotten out of the habit of Googling myself because that’s just a bad idea to ever do that,” she said.
The actress delved into articles about "Hathahate." "I couldn’t help it. You know and you try to shut it off and I couldn’t and then I realized why I couldn’t was I hadn’t learned to love myself yet. I hadn’t gotten there. And if you don’t love yourself when someone else says horrible thing to you part of you is always going to believe them," she said.
Johansson finds that not doing so keeps her grounded. "It gives you an inflated sense of yourself, too. It makes you feel like everyone is paying attention to you and they're not," she said.
The actress should know better about the dangers of the internet, after starring in 'The Net' in 1995. But it looks like she didn't learn the lesson...
Back in 2012, a photo of Kim Kardashian emerged where she could be seen checking Google Alerts for her name.
Though, since then it looks like she learned not to Google herself anymore. "I’d Google myself and it would freak me out," she said.
The singer listed "Googling herself" as one of her top five fears! The other four were sea urchins, earwigs, cynics, and getting arrested, in case you're wondering.
The pop star learned her lesson and now refuses to Google herself. "The minute I stopped Googling myself, you can’t imagine what a happier person I am," she confessed.
Sevigny must have had a really bad experience Googling herself at one point. When asked about it, she replied: "I’d rather cut off my pinkie than Google myself." Ouch!

The actress tries to avoid Googling herself because she has "too much potential for collapse," she said. "There's an anonymity that makes people feel safe to participate in hatefulness," added Roberts.
But Roberts knows how tempting it can be... "It's kind of like cotton candy: it looks so appealing and you just can't resist getting in there, and then you just end up with sticky fingers and it lasted an instant," said the actress.
