▲Vanessa Lachey gave birth to her son Phoenix after only 29 weeks. She was already in hospital on bedrest when her water suddenly broke. She was rushed for an emergency C-section, and later shared how terrifying the experience was.
▲Zoe Saldana's twin babies, Cy and Bowie, arrived very early at 32 weeks. She was experiencing health complications like protein in her urine and crashing platelets. When the babies were born they spent time in the NICU and Saldana and her husband were extremely scared.
▲Anna Faris's water broke when she was just seven months pregnant. She was brought to hospital and put on bed rest, but her son Jack was born a week later. He was nine weeks early and weighed only three pounds and 12 ounces (less than two kilograms).
▲Brooke Mueller gave birth to the twins she shares with Charlie Sheen seven weeks early. Muller suffered from both preeclampsia and gestational diabetes, a form of diabetes that can occur in pregnancy even if the mother doesn't normally have the condition. Both Max and Bob spent time in the NICU, but Max had to spend an extra month there because he developed a heart condition.
▲Actress Melissa Gilbert gave birth to her son Michael extremely early at 27 weeks. Michael had to be put on a ventilator for one day and then spent 40 days in the NICU. Luckily, he had no serious complications for the premature birth and was able to go home.
▲'The View' host Sherri Shepherd gave birth to her son Jeffrey at just 25 weeks. That's less than six months of gestation. He weighed only one pound and 10 ounces (737 grams) and had to spend three months in the NICU undergoing treatment. Jeffrey had to work with physical, speech, and occupational therapists to help him with developmental delays caused by the premature birth.
▲Julia Roberts was expecting her twins in January, but they arrived in November! Phinnaeus and Hazel weighed just over five pounds (two kilograms) each, and luckily, there were no complications.

TV anchor Nancy Grace gave birth to her twins two months early. Grace was hospitalized with a pulmonary edema after the delivery, and the twins had to spend weeks in NICU. They are all now healthy and happy!

Her 19th baby, Josie, was delivered 15 weeks early by emergency C-section. She weighed one pound and six ounces (624 grams). Josie is now a little small for her age, but a perfectly healthy child.

Rumi and Sir had to remain in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for weeks after their birth, and Beyoncé also had a lengthy recovery from the major surgery. She spoke to Vogue about living in survival mode for weeks during the experience, only feeling able to grasp what had happened months later.

Farris and her then-husband Chris Pratt waited while Jack was cared for in the NICU. He had to have a feeding tube, an IV connected to his heart, and would be regularly shaken by the nurses when he stopped breathing. Eventually they were able to take him home and raise their perfectly healthy baby.

Danielle Fishel welcomed her baby Adler one month early. He had to remain in the NICU for one month to be treated for fluid build-up in his lungs. Fishel wants to advise parents in a similar situation that things move slowly in the NICU. A recuperating premature baby needs time, so think about it like a marathon rather than a sprint.

Kim Kardashian went into labor with her daughter North West five weeks early. Kim had had health complications throughout the pregnancy, and similar to Beyoncé, was suffering from preeclampsia. This condition causes swelling and high blood pressure.

Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima gave birth to her daughter Valentina at 34 weeks. She had hoped to have a home birth, but she went into early labor after suffering from preeclampsia and went to the hospital to be safe.

Jolie knew that twins are often born early so she was prepared when she went into labor ahead of her due date. Jolie later recalled, "When I saw they were big and screaming with healthy lungs, I was at peace.”

Hilaria Baldwin went into labor with her and Alec Baldwin's son Rafael a month early. He was born with the umbilical cord around his neck, but only had to spend a few hours in an incubator after birth.

Sophie Ellis Bexter suffered from preeclampsia with both pregnancies. She had to have an emergency C-section for her son Kit, who was two pounds and 10 ounces (just over a kilogram) when he was born.

British singer Sophie Ellis Bexter has had two very premature babies. In 2004 her son Sonny was born two months early. Her second son, Kit, was born nine weeks early in 2009.

Angelina Jolie is another mother of twins. She and Brad Pitt welcomed Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon prematurely in 2008.

Tana Ramsey gave birth to her and Gordon Ramsey's twins in 1999. Jack and Holly came nine weeks early and had to spend several weeks in intensive care. Jack was also born with a hole in his heart.

Star of 'The Killing' Jamie Anne Allman had a really rough pregnancy with her twins due to a shortened cervix and gestational diabetes. They were born 11 weeks early and were both extremely underweight. They spent a couple of months in the NICU, and in the first month Allman was only allowed to hold them for a total of two hours.

Kardashian was admitted to hospital five weeks before the due date because of complications and had a natural birth. North weighed just five pounds (just over two kilograms) and had to remain in NICU until her lungs had fully formed. 

▲Celine Dion underwent six rounds of IVF in order to conceive at the age of 42. She and her late husband Rene Angelil were hoping for a second child, but got more than they bargained for when they discovered she was pregnant with triplets. Sadly, she lost one of the babies during the pregnancy.

Dion was hospitalized late in her pregnancy as a precaution, but still gave birth to the twins prematurely via C-section. They were both born healthy and only had to spend a few days in an incubator. They were named Nelson and Eddy.

The twins were eventually healthy enough to go home and Saldana expressed her extreme gratitude to the nurses and doctors who cared for them.

They were allowed to go home once they had gained enough weight, and Jack's heart healed naturally within a year. They're now fit and healthy, even running marathons!

Beyoncé is one of many mothers who had to have an emergency C-section when she was pregnant with her twins in 2017. She had been bedridden for a month with preeclampsia, and went for the procedure when it was determined that her health and the health of her babies were in danger. 

▲Faith Hill and Tim McGraw's daughter Audrey arrived eight weeks early. A routine prenatal exam revealed that Hill's amniotic fluid was dangerously low, and she had to deliver the baby right away. Audrey was three pounds and 11 ounces (less than two kilograms), but she went home healthy after spending some time in an incubator.

Celebrity moms are not immune to difficult pregnancies and early births. Many of the most famous women in the world have experienced premature births, and the fear and trauma that can come with them. Thankfully, they all have healthy, thriving children now.
