When the 'Two and a Half Men' actor turned up for jury duty in 2013 he told TMZ that he was hoping for something like a "multiple homicide case, something really interesting."

For some people the idea of being called for jury duty is an exciting opportunity to play a part in the democratic administration of justice. For others, the thought of being summoned is enough to fill them with dread.

Unfortunately for people in the latter group, being called for duty is something everyone has to deal with, celebrities included.

It seems the 2014 case was not the first time the actor was summoned, either. There are reports that he was also called in 2003 and then again in 2007.

In 2015 actress Anna Kendrick tweeted: "Night 3 of calling in for jury duty…thought I was off the hook, but I’ve got a date with justice…"

Things didn't turn out as hoped: the matter of the case remains unclear, but we do know that Sheen was excused by 3 pm and given the standard proof of completion certificate.

In 2014 Brad Pitt turned up for jury duty at the Los Angeles Criminal Court. According to the Daily Mail, he wanted to serve but was dismissed for being "too distracting."

A spokesperson said: "He recognizes how vital jury service is to our judicial system - and that with the great privileges of being a citizen in America and having the right to vote come important responsibilities like this one."

Hadid made it through the first round of questioning but was then dismissed on the grounds that she is friends with Cara Delevingne, one of Weinstein's 105 female accusers.

In August 2015 the former president of the United States showed up for jury selection in Dallas. Ultimately, however, he wasn't chosen to serve.

In January 2020 model Gigi Hadid was called to the Manhattan Supreme Court to be questioned as a potential juror for the trial of former Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein.

She was apparently called, but as she and the other jurors were going into the courtroom the case was settled, which she tweeted she "didn't know was a thing."

When Clarkson's case was settled, she was asked instead to bear witness to a pair of eighteen year olds tying the knot. She tweeted, "#poordecisionpartyfortwo."

According to the same TMZ report, the court case had been resolved by 2:30 pm the same afternoon, and all jurors including Lopez were free to go home.

In July 2014 Madonna showed up to fulfill her civic duty, but she was dismissed after just two hours, at least partly because she would cause too much of a distraction.

Singer Kelly Clarkson reportedly showed up for jury duty after seeing Anna Kendrick's tweets. She said that her experience of the process was exactly the same, except for one key difference.

In 2007 J-Lo spent a morning at the Beverly Hills Courthouse as a prospective juror. According to TMZ she spent most of the time in the jury room texting friends.

A spokesperson for Mr. Trump said that the previous summons had been sent to the wrong address, and that he was happy to serve.
