J.M. Barrie, the author of the ‘Peter Pan’ stories, wrote a book called ‘Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens.’ He commissioned a sculptor to create a bronze statue of Peter Pan and install it in the gardens of Kensington Palace without permission!
His designer had previously visited Kensington and was inspired by the beautiful architecture and the intrigue of the place.
Makes you wonder how lax the security was back in 1912, as the statue remains there to this day.
