HBO's 'Sex and the City' debuted on June 6, 1998. It would run for six seasons and spawn two standalone movies. Production of a third movie was allegedly called off due to a heated feud between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall. And it was only in the second season of the spin-off, 'And Just Like That...,' that Cattrall agreed to a small cameo where she doesn't interact with any of her old castmates.
On the original show, each of the women carved out their own successful path in their respective working lives. Carrie as a writer, Miranda a lawyer, Samantha was in charge of her own PR company, and Charlotte ran an art gallery.
In season two, Miranda dates a man who has difficulty accepting the fact that she makes more money than he does, which eventually leads to them breaking up.
"I want to enjoy my success, not apologize for it," was Miranda's iconic reaction.

They also showed the joys of single life, and that for some it takes a little longer for love to cross their path.

Carrie never wore the same outfit in two episodes. The only outfit ever to appear twice in the franchise was her famous Dior news-print dress first seen in season three. The garment reappeared in the ill-fated second film in 2010.

Eventually they settled on John, and Carrie and her big love had the happy ending all of us, deep down, really wanted. That is, until the spin-off!
