With the coronavirus still very much a threat, the committees for various events around the world continue to get together to discuss the best course of action.
The president of Rio's League of Samba Schools (Liga Independente das Escolas de Samba do Rio de Janeiro) has recently announced that the world-famous carnival had been postponed due the COVID-19 pandemic.
But this is not the first big event to be cancelled because of the pandemic. More recently, the 2020 edition of the Oktoberfest has also been canceled. The German beer festival, held annually in Munich, was scheduled to take place from September 19 through October 4.
