London has gained at least one new Banksy mural ahead of Christmas, after the street artist confirmed a newly appeared artwork in west London as his own. The black-and-white mural, showing two children lying on the ground and pointing toward the sky, was unveiled on a wall above a row of garages on Queen’s Mews in Bayswater and was authenticated when Banksy shared images of it on his official Instagram account on December 22.
Speculation has also surrounded a second, identical mural that appeared near the Centre Point tower in central London last week. However, Banksy has not acknowledged that version publicly, and his representatives have declined to confirm its authenticity.
Banksy uses the streets as his canvas like no one else. While his real name remains unknown, his works are famous worldwide for making powerful statements.
