Sometimes a film is remade so long after the original that people aren't aware that it's a remake at all. Other times, as is the case of 'The Island,' the makers don't want the public to know that the movie is a remake.

There are also numerous remakes that became Hollywood blockbusters, but were actually re-imagined French, Spanish, South Korean, and Cantonese originals.
