▲John Gavin Malkovich was born December 9, 1953 in Christopher, Illinois.

▲Malkovich grew up with three sisters and one brother. In an interview with 'Conan,' he revealed he was overweight until around the age of 16, when he went on a strict Jell-O diet for two months.

▲According to The Guardian, his parents really wanted him to be a park ranger in Montana. However, he chose the theater instead.

▲Malkovich joined the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago in 1976. He was in several plays, and eventually moved to New York City for one of their productions.

▲He held various odd jobs during this time, he told The Guardian, including driving a school bus and picking weeds.

▲He ended up participating in a production of 'True West,' which won him an Obie award. The play revolves around two brothers and their sibling rivalry.

▲Many think of ‘Places in the Heart’ as Malkovich's first role. In reality, however, he first appeared in an uncredited role in 1978's 'A Wedding,' starring Carol Burnett (pictured).

▲Directed by Spike Jonze, this movie sees the actor playing himself, in a film where a group of actors find a secret tunnel into his mind. It was nominated for three Academy Awards.

▲The cast included a plethora of stars, including John Cusack, Cameron Diaz, and Catherine Keener.

▲Malkovich was married to actress Glenne Headly from 1982 to 1988. It was his only marriage. They divorced after Malkovich supposedly got involved with Michelle Pfeiffer during the shooting of 'Dangerous Liaisons.'

▲Although he never married again, he has been with partner Nicoletta Peyran since 1989. They met on the set of 'The Sheltering Sky,' where she was the second assistant director.

▲The pair have two grown children, Amandine and Loewy.

▲Malkovich has been nominated for numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor twice. However, he's never actually won an Oscar.

▲In 2002, he created his own fashion company, Mrs. Mudd. From there, he released two lines of clothing. His menswear collection Uncle Kimono came out in 2003, and Technobohemian came out in 2010.

▲He is fluent in French after living and working in France for over 10 years. He even directed a version of 'Dangerous Liaisons' in French!

▲Yup, he's also got an album. 'Like a Puppet Show' includes remixes of Malkovich reading interpretations of the philosopher Plato.

▲Malkovich told The Telegraph that he once chased away a stalker in New York's Central Park with a bowie knife, but only after going home and changing out of his nice suit.

▲Malkovich isn’t very into politics. He hasn't voted in more than 40 years!

▲'Places in the Heart' (1984) was Malkovich’s breakout movie. He plays a blind lodger in the film, in which Sally Field starred as the protagonist. The role earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars.

▲In 2002, Malkovich began the directing portion of his career with 'The Dancer Upstairs.' The film stars Javier Bardem, and is based off the book by Nicholas Shakespeare.

▲One of his most memorable roles was the sinister Vicomte de Valmont in the film 'Dangerous Liaisons,' alongside Glenn Close and Michelle Pfeiffer.

▲He's hosted 'Saturday Night Live' three different times. His most recent was in 2008.

▲Malkovich starred in a movie that likely none of us will live to see. In fact, its full title is '100 Years: The Movie You Will Never See.' Upon completion, it was locked away, and will only be released in the year 2115. So far three cast members have been revealed, one being Shuya Chang (pictured) as "Hero's Girl."

▲Starring alongside Clint Eastwood, Malkovich plays yet another villain, this time a political assassin. He was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Malkovich has been in more than 70 films throughout his lengthy career, and has also dabbled in directing.

Malkovich debuted on Broadway in 1984 alongside Dustin Hoffman in 'Death of a Salesman.'
