Celebrities who have been in cults
'One Tree Hill' star Bethany Joy Lenz has "a lot to tell" after spending 10 years in "cult"
CELEBRITY Childhood
Last year, 'One Tree Hill' alum Bethany Joy Lenz opened up about her experience living in a cult for 10 years on the 'Drama Queens' podcast. She told her former co-stars that she would write a book about her time in the undisclosed cult. The book, titled 'Dinner for Vampires,' is set to be released on October 22.
“I was in a cult for 10 years,” she told Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton Morgan. “That would be a really valuable experience to write about, and the recovery—10 years of recovery after that. So there’s a lot to tell.” The actress didn't share further details but said that she writes about it privately. Though she has considered publishing a book, it's made difficult by “the pressure of getting it right and everything having to be exactly real and all the people that are involved." Lenz added, “Also, I don’t know how much I can say because there are still people and legal things in place that make it more complicated for the timing of that. But I do write. I write all the time.”
