Despite the growing concern every day that we may not have an NHL season this year, fear not as there is plenty of hockey to be had. in addition to the coverage of the AHL, ECHL, CHL and NAHL, we have the World Junior Championships coming upon us. Look to my cohorts for coverage on Team USA's goalies and defensemen whereas I will be covering the forwards. In my effort to not overwhelm you with information, will bring you information on the forwards in a few articles.
Cole Bardreau hails from Fairport, NY and currently plays for Cornell. In the 2011-2012 season he appeared in 34 games and racked up 4 goals and 4 assists. The 5'10, 184lb forward was also a member of the U.S. team that captured the gold medal in 2011 at the IIHF U18 World Championship.
Riley Barber is a Michigan native and was selected by Washington in the 6th round (167th overall) in the 2012 draft. The right wing was also part of the US National Development Team Program in Ann Arbor and was the third leading scorer for the NDTP's U18 team.
Another right wing on the list, Ohio native Tyler Biggs played for Miami University until he left to play for the OHL's Oshawa Generals for the 2012-2013 season. He also signed a three year, entry level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in August 2012.
Alex Galchenyuk was born in Milwaukee, WI and his father is Alexander Galchenyuk, a Belarussian hockey player. In 2010 Alex was the #1 draft in the OHL Priority Selection Draft by the Sarnia Sting. It is noted that in 2011-2012 he missed all but two games in the regular season due to a knee injury.
