That magical time of year has come to the state of Texas: high school football playoffs. For the Allen Eagles, it is an opportunity to put the regular season behind them and start on the quest for their second state title in four years. Having gone 9-1 on the season, with their only loss coming in overtime against a very strong Coppell team, Allen looks to start their trip to Austin in their own backyard this Friday night against the Richardson Eagles (trust me, this theme gets better).
To help celebrate Allen’s success as they sit 3rd in the state and 16th in the nation, the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League has adjusted their own schedule to support their young neighbors with a special deal for their game against the Missouri Mavericks. To start the special week off, American’s minority owner and Hockey Hall of Famer, Eddie “The Eagle” Belfour (see, I told you it would get better) will visit Allen High School this Wednesday morning to offer up the school’s morning messages which are broadcasted across campus detailing information and news for the students.
One note which will be announced by Belfour will be the game against the Mavericks (originally scheduled for Friday evening) has been moved to Thursday evening and any Allen student with an I.D. can get into the game for $5 and all other tickets (excluding premium and glass seats) will be available for $10. The game starts at 7:05 PM and tickets will be available at the Allen Event Center Box Office.
The night will be heavy with Allen High School appearances as Head Coach, Tom Westerberg and the team captains will drop the ceremonial first puck at the start of the game and then will be presented an Allen Americans jersey from Belfour and USA Hockey Hall of Famer, Mike Modano. The Americans, who also have a sparkling record of 9-1 after a sweet through the state of Illinois will be donning special navy blue helmets with the Eagles’ logo.
Fans in attendance will be treated to highlights of the Eagle’s season during stoppages and the beautiful Allen Ice Angels will have special Allen Eagle attire on throughout the evening.
A proceed of the special ticket prices will go to the Allen Touchdown Club, the official booster club for the Eagles’ players, trainers and managers and fans looking to make it an early sports weekend can also purchase tickets to the playoff game between Allen and Richardson at the Allen Americans Promotion Table.
This is the cheapest game ticket available in the area. There is no reason to miss this event. The Allen Americans offer one of the most family-friendly environments I have ever seen (my 2 and 1 year old have been to three games already). Besides, this is Texas. This is football country and no other place in the world celebrates high school football better than the North Texas area (sorry, West Texas, but its true). So, bring the family out and watch the RED hot Allen Americans propel the Allen Eagles on to a state championship.
