After winning 5 games out of 6 on their last road trip, the Texas Stars gained another road win last night. This time against the Abbotsford Heat. They face the same team tonight. This win seems more significant over the other wins, as the Heat currently sit first in the North Division and in the Western Conference overall.

The final score was 3-1, with goals from rookie Reilly Smith, Taylor Vause (nabbing his first of the year not to mention), and Cody Eakin. There was a dicey few minutes in the 3rd period with the Heat pulling their goalie and some ill-advised penalties from Texas. But the Stars defense and Cristopher Nilstorp shut down the 6-3 and left with the win.

Also worth mentioning is the level of goaltending we have seen from Nilstorp. Admittedly both goalies were shaky at the start of the season. Jack Campbell entered this year with a lot of hype and excitement surrounding his play, but Nilstorp has emerged as of late as the outstanding star. The Swedish goaltender has really settled into his role and his confidence has grown since the beginning of the year. He has played 18 games over Campbell's 10 and it seems that Desjardins has been looking to him as the starter.

Let's hope this double header results in four points for the Texas Stars!
