The Texas Stars successfully beat the Milwaukee Admirals in round 1 of the playoffs and are one step closer to their Calder Cup bid. The Stars had a brilliant finish to the first series with a shutout in game 3 from Cristopher Nilstorp, which is the first playoff shutout in franchise history. Nilstorp has been outstanding throughout the series with his SAV at .963%. They enter round 2 against the OKC Barons in a best of 7 series starting Thursday night at home. The stakes are higher in this go around as they inch closer to glory.

The OKC Barons have struggled with their penalty kill at 79.2% but finds success with their power play in the playoffs at 20%. Stars must be disciplined with their penalties and take advantage of any power play opportunities presented to them. The Barons also lead the playoffs in goals (total of 23) and goals per game average at 4.60.

If the Stars eliminate the Barons, they will face either the Toronto Marlies or the Grand Rapids Griffins in round 3. The winner of that round will face the Eastern Conference champions for a chance to win the ultimate AHL prize.
