The showing at the Cedar Park Center last night highlighted the fact that the Texas Stars sit number one in the AHL with a stellar 4-0 win over the Oklahoma City Barons. Jack Campbell earned his second shutout of the year, stopping all 20 shots he faced. The Stars turned 2 out of 8 PP opportunities into goals in front of the sellout crowd. There are 25 games left in the regular season and Texas sits number one with 68 points, but it is important that they keep the momentum going into the playoffs so they do not lose their hold in the rankings.

Both Travis Morin and Alex Chiasson left the game last night. Chiasson took a hit into the boards from Theo Peckham and was down for quite a bit. Peckham received a major for boarding and left the game for abuse of officials. Rumor has it that the league may review the hit against Chiasson.

In other Texas news:

Taylor Vause was signed to an AHL contract after his second PTO contract expired. Vause has contributed 2 goals and 6 points and has a current -7 rating.

Kari Lehtonen is expected to be on the IR and Cristopher Nilstorp has been called up to Dallas. Tyler Beskorowany was sent up from Idaho to back up Campbell.

Patrik Nemeth scored his first career AHL goal against the Houston Aeros and Bretton Cameron nabbed his first last night against the Barons.

Jamie Oleksiak was returned from Dallas in time to face the Barons on Friday and Saturday night. Big Rig had 1 assist Friday night in the shootout win and 2 assists last night.
