Today, the Dallas Stars released their preseason schedule for 2013-2014.

They will play seven games, three of them at home, two of them within driving distance of Dallas, and two others that will require a road trip encompassing multiple days should people decide to go to those.

The Stars will play four different teams during the preseason from September 15-27: St. Louis Blues, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, and Edmonton Oilers. (Why does it seem like the Stars play the Avalanche every preseason?)

Training camp will also begin in Fort Worth on September 11 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

The schedule reads as follows (Home Games in bold):

  • Saturday, September 15, 2013
    • St. Louis Blues vs. Dallas Stars (6:00 PM CT)
    • American Airlines Center
  • Wednesday, September 18, 2013

    • Dallas Stars vs. Edmonton Oilers (7:00 PM CT)
    • COX Convention Center (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)

If you are curious as to why the Stars and Panthers are playing a game in San Antonio, well, the Panthers' AHL affiliate is the San Antonio Rampage, and they play their games at AT&T Center. These two games against the Panthers could be a great chance to see one of the future dynamic players in the game in Florida's Jonathan Huberdeau (3rd overall, 2011). San Antonio's also not too far away from Austin, so Texas Stars fans can make a short trek to that game and support the team.

Regarding Oklahoma City, the Oilers AHL affiliate is the Oklahoma City Barons, and they play their games at COX Convention Center. This will allow fans north of the Red River to take a short trek to Oklahoma City to watch the Stars play the Oilers, who have a dynamic offense.

By playing the Avalanche, the Stars will get their first look at Nathan MacKinnon, the first overall pick from this year's draft. He is going to be around for a long time since the Avalanche are now in the Stars' division. Plus, Patrick Roy's the new man behind the bench for them, so it will be fun to remind him how Eddie was better.

And finally, the Blues. The Stars have had issues playing against them ever since Ken Hitchcock took over as the coach in the middle of the 2011-2012 season. They play a style of hockey that is fun to watch...when your team is not playing against them. Alex Pietrangelo is one of the best young puck-moving defenseman in the NHL, and Vladimir Tarasenko will potentially be a rising superstar.

Here is the official press release from the team:
