After a loss in Calgary Sunday Night, The Dallas Stars announced a series of roster moves Monday. The club recalled forward Matt Fraser and defenseman Jordie Benn from the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL affiliate. The Stars assigned forwards Tomas Vincour and Tom Wandell Texas. Wandell is reported to be sent to Texas on a conditioning assignment.
Recalling from Texas:
Fraser, 22, was selected to represent the Western Conference at the 2013 AHL All-Star Game after posting a team-leading 35 points (24 Goals - 11 Assists) for Texas in 51 games so far this season. Fraser is currently tied for third in the AHL with 24 total goals, and leads the league with 13 power play goals. He played his first career NHL game last season on against the Anaheim Ducks on Jan. 24, 2012 . Fraser was undrafted and was signed as a free agent on in November of 2010.
Benn, 25, has played 11 career NHL games, recording four penalty minutes and eight shots on goal. Benn has skated in 40 games for Texas this season, ranking second in scoring among defensemen with 21 points (7 Goals - 14 Assists). Benn went undrafted and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July of 2012.
Assigning to Texas:
Vincour, 22, has played eight games in Dallas this season, posting one goal. Prior to being recalled, he played 39 games for Texas, where he earned 19 points (7 Goals -12 Assists). Vincour was Dallas’ fifth-round selection (129th overall) at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Wandell, 26, has only played seven games for Dallas this season. He’s skated in 218 career NHL games, posting 42 points (19 Goals - 23 Assists). Wandell was Dallas’ fifth-round selection (146th overall) at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, making his debut in the 2008-09 season.
Benn and Fraser's first chance at making an impact will be Thursday night, as the Stars host the Vancouver Canucks at the American Airlines Center.
