Stars at Detroit Red Wings, 6:30 p.m. today (FSSW, KTCK-AM 1310)

Key story lines:     Jim Nill’s return, first of only two meetings with Detroit this season, and Zetterberg Bobblehead Night.

“It’s going to be odd, but it’s going to be nice to see a lot of people I haven’t seen,” Nill said. “When I left there it was kind of quick and kind of gone type of thing. They were getting ready for the playoffs, I got hired down here and I didn’t really get a chance to say goodbye to a lot of people. It’s going to be nice to go back there and see everybody in the arena, say hello to the players and get in there and do our job.” via Mark Stepneski

The Dallas Stars (7-6-2):

Dallas is surely on a high from their last bout in Boston and has also gone 4-2-1 in their last seven games after a very bumpy start, which has been righted thanks to Kari Lehtonen’s return. He has a record of 6-2-2 with 1.93 goals against average and .937 save percentage. The offense is tied for 3rd in the NHL for goals in the 1st period (16), middle of the pack for the 2nd period (14), but one goal from being in dead last for 3rd period scoring (7). Thank you Vernon Fiddler by the way. With the defense playing better and Kari in the pipes, the question for tonight becomes, can the Stars get a lead early and hold onto it in the 3rd?

As For Detroit (9-5-2)

Red Wings are coming off of a booming road trip (3-1-0), but after dropping to the Jets they will be looking to have a good game at home. Wings are looking to limit the opponent’s shots on net and reduce turnovers (sound familiar Stars fans?). The Red Wings have lost three straight at home, where they are 3-2-2 for the season, so expect them to come out swinging for the amped up bobble-head lovers.

  Detroit Lines:
