Coming off a 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild, the Dallas Stars will look to give the Colorado Avalanche their first loss of the season.

Coming in at 5-0-0, the decision to bring in Patrick Roy as the new head coach seems to have given the Avalanche a new attitude after finishing 16-25-7 last season.

Colorado is first in goals against average only allowing 0.8 goals per game. They also rank first in the NHL in penalty kill percentage at 100%.

On the other hand the Stars are coming off a couple days of rest and have showed some signs of molding together. They are 2-2-0 with big wins against Washington and Winnipeg and Dallas seems to play at their best against tougher opponents.

Dan Ellis is expected to be in net tonight with Kari Lehtonen on the injured reserve. Believe it or not Stars fans, this is GREAT news. He played very well against Winnipeg when Kari went down but faltered a bit against Minnesota. Now, he has something to prove. The former Dallas draft pick has a career record of 78-66-17 with a 2.74 goals against average and I believe that is the form you'll see in net tonight.

The keys to tonight's game for Dallas would be 1. Avoid penalties. 2. Get 30+ shots on goal (a few are bound to go in.) 3. Limit the work for Ellis... Block shots, clear the puck, and stay in the attacking zone.

With both Colorado and Dallas now in the same division that makes this old rivalry exciting and worth watching. I am going to say tonights game ends with a score of 3-2 Dallas, in overtime.
