After coming off a sub-par game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Dallas Stars travel to Detroit to face the Red Wings. Now with Jamie Benn back on board, the Stars will look to finally win a back to back game. Unfortunately in this short season, there will be many games with a limited amount of rest. Dallas is second in the NHL in travel miles this year, with the Minnesota Wild first in total miles traveled.

Detroit like Dallas, has had it's share of problems so far this year. Dallas finally got some goals from others such as Michael Ryder, getting two goals against Detroit last week. That game also should have been a shutout for the Stars, but the Red Wings busted that bubble getting a late goal in the dying seconds of the game.

Now to tonight's game, both the Stars and Red Wings have been bitten by the injury bug of late. Red Wings will be without Helm (back), Samuelsson (groin), Colaiacovo (shoulder), and White (quadriceps). Detroit did get Todd Bertuzzi back, since returning to the lineup he has scored two goals already. The Stars placed Derek Roy on injured reserve (groin), Aaron Rome is out with the flu (probable) and Whitney is still playing, but nursing a sore foot. So what are the positives for the Dallas Stars? First one for me is the return of Jamie Benn, which he did tally one assist in the loss to the Blue Jackets. Another positive for Dallas, is their penalty kill is 14 for 14 on the road so far this year, 4 of those kills were against Detroit last week. Finally, for the Stars, their goaltending has been stellar, despite what the Stars' record shows (2-3-1). There is still plenty of hockey left, but the Stars can't affort to wait until March to get hot, the time is now. (The video below was last Tuesday's game showing Michael Ryder's two goals).
