The Amarillo Bulls defeated the Corpus Christi IceRays 5-3 last night, clinching the best of five game series over the IceRays 3 games to 1. This will be the Bulls' third consecutive appearance in the South Division Finals, their next opponent will be either the Topeka RoadRunners or last years Robertson Cup Champions the Texas Tornado. The Tornado currently have 2-0 game lead in their series with the RoadRunners.
The Amarillo Bulls have been a solid team all year, led by forwards Mike Davis and TJ Sarcona, both in the top twenty of the NAHL point leaders. Another strong point for the Bulls is their defensemen, leading the way is team captain John Rey who is third in the NAHL in points, other notables Geoff Fortman and TJ Sherman, all of these guys have been the pillars of defense and have been huge offensively for the Bulls. Last but not least, the absolute stellar netminding of Paul Berrafato, this Buffalo, NY native leads the NAHL in GAA (1.66), and boasts an impressive 33-3-5 record with two shutouts under his belt.
Often overlooked in any sport, the coaches for the Amarillo Bulls have been excellent, head coach Dennis Williams, with assistant coaches Rocky Russo and Harry Mahood have taught this young group of hockey players the keys to success on and off the ice. Not to mention the tireless efforts of training staff, day in day out securing the safety of these athletes.
