The Dallas Stars have made the decision to move net minder Jack Campbell to Austin to play for the Dallas AHL affiliate, Texas Stars.

When Jack Campbell was taken 11th overall in 2010 by the Dallas Stars, many questioned why not a defenseman? With Kari Lehtonen solidified as the future between the pipes and the Stars struggling defensively at the time, it seemed like a valid question. But if you look at details of Campbell's career, the Stars look brilliant.

Yes, Campbell isn't going to be the man in the crease for now but his development with Texas could provide the necessary depth should the "Big Fin" fall to more injuries this season.

In his time with Texas last season, Campbell averaged 2.65 goals against in over 2,100 minutes and 40 games played, at the age of 21. In Lehtonen's last full stint in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves in 2004, he averaged 2.27 goals against in 57 games a the same age but with more experience.

Looking at Lehtonen's development and comparing to Campbell's, Stars fans, both in Dallas and in Austin, should be excited about Campbell's potential between the pipes in the future.
