Goalie Injuries Plague the Texas Stars
Due to an injury sustained by goalie Jack Campbell, the Texas Stars brought up Josh Robinson from the Idaho Steelheads on October 26th. In last night's road game against the Iowa Wild the Stars found themselves in a bit of a pickle as Cristopher Nilstorp was out with an injury as well. In steps Derek Hender, who signed an ATO as an emergency backup. Hender is part of the Des Moines amateur hockey league and is certainly the oldest goalie in Stars history.
Tonight the Stars face the Iowa Wild again, and with Campbell and Nilstorp out of action, they signed Allen York of the ECHL's Evansville IceMen to a PTO. It will be interesting to see what happens next if any injuries start to plague the Dallas Stars' netminders.
On a side note, and to the surprise of few, Travis Morin was named CCM/AHL Player of the Month for the month of October. Morin leads the AHL in goals, assists and overall points. Let's hope that he continues his hot streak.
