As a crazy Fourth of July continues on for the Stars, it looks like Shawn Horcoff, center and captain for the Edmonton Oilers, has been traded to Dallas. This news comes in not long after reports of a blockbuster deal moving 21-year old Center Tyler Seguin to the Stars.

Shawn Horcoff will add to the newly founded depth at center for Dallas. He adds experience and a well rounded game to the table. Most importantly, Horcoff is notorious for his face-off abilities which is a very important asset to have, especially with the emphasis on special teams in recent years.

Last season, Horcoff accounted for 12 points in 31 games. Look for a 10-20 goal season and a very solid third line presence for Dallas. He comes with a cap hit of $5.5 million for 2 more years, a very good timeline for the Stars.

Dallas will be sending Philip Larsen, who is an RFA next year, and a seventh round pick to Edmonton. A move on defense was imminent with the re-signing of Jordie Benn, signing of Sergei Gonchar, and plethora of defensive prospects possibly ready to make the jump.
