Dallas Stars Reduce Training Camp Roster
The Dallas Stars have begun their preseason, winning 4-1 last night over the Florida Panthers. For the Dallas prospects and the Texas Stars players looking to gain a spot on the NHL roster, the preseason games give them the opportunity they've been working so hard for. There isn't room for everyone however and after last night, the Stars have reduced their roster by ten.
Four of the players have been assigned to their AHL affiliate, including forward Curtis McKenzie, forward Taylor Peters, defenseman Ryan Button, and defenseman Hubert Labrie. Radesk Faksa is on his way to the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL.
There were five other players that were released from their training camp tryout contracts: Justin Dowling, Mike Hedden, Brock Montgomery, Brendan Ranford and Etienne Boutet. They will also be heading to the Texas Stars.
Staying in Dallas for the second preaseason game against the Blues is Colton Sceviour. Based on this morning's skate he will make up the fourth line along with MacDermid and Mueller. Sceviour had four shots on goal last night in San Antonio. Here's to hoping he gets his shot to stay.
The Texas Stars begin their preseason on Friday September 27th and the season opener is Saturday October 5th.
