After a successful two game series in Odessa, the Amarillo Bulls came back home Sunday to face the Wichita Falls Wildcats on what was called "Sonic Sunday", a free game for the fans, and Amarillo's third time to do this, which by the way the Bulls remain undefeated on this night for the fans. With an attendance of 3,989, the Bull Pen was rocking which was good, as this night was also the Toys for Tots teddy bear toss with tons of stuffed bears eventually ended up all over the ice.
Now on to the game. The Bulls playing their third game in as many nights came right out of the gate after the Wildcats, with Bulls forward Omar Mullan getting the games' opening marker. The first period was very tightly contested with great end to end action and stellar netminding by both goaltenders.
The Wildcats finally woke up in the second frame, getting two quick goals in less than five minutes of play, now the Bulls found themselves trailing 2-1, when Brady Ferguson scores for the Bulls in a period full of offense. Matt Sieckhaus of the Amarillo Bulls knotted the game 2-2 with a great shot from the side of the net. The second period got a little bit more interesting with Wildcat defensemen Charles Hemstrom getting a game ejection for a vicious check from behind. The Bulls then had a four minute power play, but, unfortunately they were not able to capitalize on it. Wichita would score again tying the game three all heading into the second intermission.
Third period. The Bulls in a tie game and Amarillo goaltender Paul Berrafato stayed strong in net, stopping any chance the Wildcats threw at him. Amarillo Bulls forward Ryan Cole would get the game winning goal and send the Bulls into first place in the South Division and first in the entire NAHL. Hopefully the Bulls can ride this momentum further into the season, as it will be a close race right down to the playoffs.
