Today, the Allen Americans announced the signing of Los Angeles Kings defenseman, Alec Martinez. Originally from Rochester, Michigan, Martinez played his college hockey at Miami (OH) University where he garnered CCHA First Team honors.

The Kings drafted him 95th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Alec played in what amassed to around a season and a half with LA's AHL affiliate, Manchester Monarchs where he tallied 69 points before being called up to the Kings full time in 2010-2011.

Last season, Martinez played an important, physical role in Los Angeles winning their first Cup in franchise history. Most telling of his post season performance was his miniscule 8 PIMS, which speaks volumes of his cerebral ability along with his ability to shut down the opposition's top-2 lines.

Alec will make his debut with the Americans tonight as Allen hosts the Quad City Mallards. Great tickets are available for an amazing way to ring in the New Year. Call 972-912-1000 to secure your seats now.
